We’re Back.

After 4 days of down time, we’re back up.

As I explained in the last post. Codefridge is being moved to a more serious hosting provider. We’d been having endless issues with the last hosting company, but alas lets not point fingers.

So Codefridge is now hosted by Gridhost, which I just must recommend. They are really really good and really well priced. Their online web chat is awesome and they helped me figure some stuff out, way before I was even their customer, which is something other companies can learn from. Also like the way that they explain everything. Oh and also the have the coolest Bored Room ever.

The other company I must mention is Codefridge’s new domain registrar, Namecheap. These are the people who convert http://codefridge.com/  into an address that computers can understand. It’s amazing how many tutorials they have on their site, explaining things to complete noobs (me). Thanks to their tutorials I actually knew what to do, as I’ve never had a separate hosting company and domain registrar. Also have I mentioned just how cheap they are? They have also been voted twice in a row, the Best Domain Name Registrar. So you know their good.

Anyway so now that I can finally make posts with the word “substring” in them, no joke. Expect more stuff. I’ve already got 3 posts just waiting for some final touch ups.

Stay Classy.

Codefridge is moving servers

Hey everyone. We’re currently in the process of changing where Codefridge is hosted and changing our DNS provider. We’re having issues with the current hosting company and have decided it’s best to move now.

The current hosting company are also one of the reason’s nothing has been posted regarding the Raspberry Pi. Every time I try to save a post an internal server error happens. It also takes quite a bit of time for their support department to come back to me, even though my whole site it down. Anyway lets move on.

You might notice a blank page in the next few weeks, or hopefully I’ll get a little landing page together, with some cake and jelly beans.

I have no idea what your on about

Right. Simply. You might encounter a blank page when navigating to Codefridge.com. Although this will only be temporary and will be fixed as soon as humanly possible.

This Ominous Quietness

Its been very quite here on Codefridge of late, well quiet…ish. I have secretly been running a closed Beta Testing of a platforming game I’ve been making in Flash.

I’ve thought lately that I’ll be publicly releasing the game. Updating it and fixing bugs people bring up. Also I’ve decided to write more “blog” like articles. I’m not quite sure if these articles will be personal, cause its not called “VinceFridge”. So it’ll probably be articles regarding stuff that I’m interested in, yes geeky things.

As some of you have noticed, you can now share links. I’m using the SexyBookmarks plug-in, just cause its awesome. So at the bottom of all posts you can share. Cause Sharing is Caring.

I’m also abandoning straight up ActionScript 3 coding for games and am now moving over to Flixel. For those of you who have no idea what Flixel is, its basically just a nice Flash Game making framework. It gets rid of some of the redundant coding that’s involved when making games. These redundant things include, saving game progress, keeping track of objects, physics (aka collision detection). There are many more, but it basically boils down to me having more time to focus, on making a good game. As opposed to making a good physics engine, which took me 2 weeks and it still has bugs.

I will soon have a page where you can sign up to become a beta tester for my flash games. As my previous beta testing program failed.

As always my inbox is open and you can use the Contact link to send me a mail. About anything really.

Whats with the downtime?

So as some of you may have noticed, codefridge.com was down for about a week and a half. Let me first say, my bad.

We changed hosting companies (This is basically where the website is served from) and I had many many problems.
Firstly there were communication problems between the 2 DNS registars (These are the people that translate http://codefridge.com/ into a computer readable address).
Secondly nobody could give us a date of when it would be transferred, we were told end of the month and planned accordingly
and then…..
“They” which I’m collectively using here, changed EVERYTHING in the middle of the month. *sigh*

Anyway wordpress problems aside, were up again.

We’ll also be bringing you guys some new stuff real soon, I think you’ll like it.

So we're back

So we’re finally back after many weeks (maybe months) of being down. For any of those who actually followed the progress………..Ok none of you then. Nevermind.

We’re basically gonna be making cool looking things, apparently this is called “design”. What exactly we’re “designing” will be…..what we want to design. Also we might take your ideas and call it our own bwahahahahah.

For more information about who these mysterious “designers” are, go have a look at our About page.
